This sculpture is a personification of the first Greek goddess, Gaia.  In Greek mythology, she is considered the mother of all life and the soul of the earth.  This piece is a visual inspiration and reminder that our planet is beautiful and precious, and, as its current caretakers, we need to take steps to better protect it.  We can all help by making conscious choices that can, in aggregate, ensure the preservation or our environment for future generations to enjoy.

Using a plasma cutter and welder, Karman Rheault creates 3-Dimensional sculptures from new and recycled metal. She makes a wide range of work from jewelry, to indoor sculptural pieces and large scale outdoor work all depending on where inspiration takes her.  She uses the inherent colors of the metal and adds color and contrast with paint, by heating it with a torch, or rusting it to produce rich natural patinas. A Native of Bismarck, ND Rheault received her art education from Minnesota State University, Moorhead and Southern Illinois University. Her home and studio are in rural Moorhead, MN.
