“‘Hillaway Ponies’ is an enlargement of a small bronze I created to honor two remarkable women who were the directors of Camp Hillaway in Hackensack, Minnesota. The camp had used the silhouette image of two ponies as a logo, and I created a three-dimensional version at the request of former campers.”
Nicholas’ other work is currently on permanent display at the Target Center, Gustavus Adolphus College, and Coffman Union at the University of Minnesota.

Lee and Sherri collaborate together on many nationally and locally commissioned works. They have placed over 70 public sculptures making them some of South Dakota’s most prolific bronze sculptors. Their works include a 22’ bronze of White Buffalo Calf Woman for the State and a five- to ten-year project to produce twelve life-sized sculptures of past South Dakota governors.
